  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Nisipau 李時波右 이시파우 Late 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who plotted to raid Joseon. Ni Manju's son. A brother of 李Ni Borgada와 李Bodangga. (1479)
Nitangga 尼湯介 니탕개 A Benho(藩胡) of Ya-in(野人) at GyengwenBu(慶源府) who pillaged Gyengwen and Asanbo(阿山堡). The father of Husiri
Nitato 李打吐 이타토 Mid 15C, a 遼東人 who was captured by Ya-in(野人) but freed when he reached 鏡城. (1476)
Niu Aciga 劉阿赤介 유아치개 A 中樞 of 兀良哈 who lived in 甫靑浦. He presented local products to the king
Niu Aciga 劉阿赤哈 유아치합 →Niu Aciga
Niu Acingga 劉阿稱介 유아칭개 A 兀良哈 who came to the Joseon government. (1474)
