  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Ni Iriga 李伊里可 이이리가 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who presented local products to the king.
Ni Iriga 李伊里哈 이이리합 Early 16C, a Ya-in(野人) 中樞 who reported the 吾郞哈's state. He lived in 상보 上Borha. (1512)
Ni Isingge 李伊時應巨 이이시응거 A commander(指揮) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who was sent by Ni Ujigamu(李于之Gamu). (1455-1470). He sacked horses. (1485)

Ni Jeri 李沮里 이저리 A brigade commander(萬戶) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Sangdongrang. The younger brother of Niborci. The father of Gungsida (1445-1460)
Ni Jumbi 李注音比 이주음비 A rectifier(司直) of Odoli(斡朶里) who lived in 吾弄草. The nephew of Ni Guiya (1455)
Ni Kerdege 李巨乙加介 이거을가개 A military protector(護軍) of Odoli(斡朶里) who lived in 吾弄草. He was naturalized in Joseon and served the royal court of Joseon. The son of Ni Guiya. The brother of aiDaga, Cegene
Ni Kerdege 李巨乙帖哈 이거을첩합 He is a Ya-in(野人) who was allowed to meet her mother after her marriage
