  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Ni Decun 李得春 이득춘 Late 16C, a Jurchen who was exiled to 昌城 for the complicity of Jang Darha's malfeasance
Ni Doci 李都致 이도치 A rectifier(司直) of Odoli(斡朶里) who lived in 吾弄草. The father of Jegene. The younger brother of Ni Guiya
Ni Doga 李都介 이도개 A Ya-in(野人) who presented local products to the king. (1395)
Ni Doge 李都巨 이도거 A Ya-in(野人) who lived in Pazhegang(婆猪江). He was feeded. (1424-1427)
Ni Doho 李都好 이도호 Mid 15C, a naturalized Ya-in(野人) who received a reward as he made a good score in archery. (1464)
Ni Dongga 李童兒 이동아 of the Orangkai(吾郞哈) tribe and chieftain of the 建州衛. (1523-1524)
Ni Dorci 李都乙赤 이도을치 An Orangkai(兀良哈)
Ni Dorgaci 李石乙家赤 이석을가치 Early 16C, Ya-in(野人) (1528)
