  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Ni Ihada 李伊下多 이이하다 A Ya-in who lived in the same village(but there is no information about the village including its name as Ni Ningguci in early 15C(1528)

Ni Indaga 李仁多可 이인다가 A Ya-in(野人) who lived in Manpo where Ni Ningguci lived (1528)
Ni Indahuci 李因塔忽尺 이인탑홀척 Late 15C, He is a Ya-in who asked to have an audience with the king. He is the younger brother of Ni Darhan(1484-1485)
Ni Irangga 李伊郞哈 이이랑합 An Orangkai(兀良哈) of 中東良. (1460)
Ni Irbangga 李日方可 이일방가 A Ya-in(野人). The cousin of Ni Ningguci. (1528)
Ni Iribuka 李亦里不花 이역리불화 Early 15C, a Samsan千戶. a Jurchen(女眞人) who was friendly to Joseon. Durantemur's son
