  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Nadaga 羅多介 나다개 1. An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 上訓春. The son of Panan. The younger brother of Daso. 2. a director(司正) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 上訓春. (1455)
Nadaja 剌答子 나답자 A commander(指揮) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 阿赤郞耳. (1455)
Nadongga 羅同哈 나동합 A 千戶 of Jurchen(女眞) who dedicated local products. (1422)
Naga 剌哈 나합 A Ya-in(野人) of 建州 who was a 指揮僉事. He lived in Haise after his marriage. (1439)
Nago 剌古 나고 A military protector(護軍) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who presented local products to the king
Naha 羅下 나하 He was a 副酋長 of 1461-1484. the son of Dong Fanca. the brother of Dong Bohato. (1463-1513)
Naha 羅何 나하 A Ya-in(野人) of 遼東 who came to 建州衛 as a captive, became a slave of Niu Nongga of Orangkai(兀良哈), and escaped to 평안도. (1478)
Nahaci 羅下赤 나하치 A commander(指揮) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Morian. (1460)
Nahacu 羅下取 나하취 Early 15C, a 指揮 of Hulun who was sent by Tasi to present local products (1439)
