  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Nahacu 羅下住 나하주 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Nimatoi. The son of Boyangga. The brother of Manggage, Nocengge, Gahaja, Disoge, Gerge (1455)
Nahacu 納哈出 납합출 Late 14C, a general of Yuan who raided Joseon but being defeated by 太祖. He was the 丞相 of 瀋陽 瀋陽行省丞相 at 元. He made a disturbance at 女直 areas. (1409).
Nahai 那海 나해 The son of 度祖.
Nai 乃伊 내이 Early 15C, a 女眞 천호 who presented local products and being bestowed goods by the king.
Naida 乃伊多 내이다 A commander(指揮) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Siadi(斜地). (1455)
Naidoron 勑督魯溫 내독로온 A 해서 Haise達子 (1462)
Naiga 乃伊可 내이가 A rectifier(司直) of Namnu Udige. (1460)
Naiga 羅伊可 나이가 A 指揮 of Odoli(斡朶里)(1458)
Naiga 羅伊哈 나이합 Early 16C, a Ya-in(野人) who left in Seoul instead of Mangga going back to 吉州. Mangga's son, Asdu's younger brother. (1515)
Naiga 剌亦哈 나역합 Mid 15C, a 南訥 兀狄哈 who followed Gim Masangga's group with local products. Soungga's son. Pasu's older brother. Araga's nephew. (1459)
