  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Nabta 羅邑他 나읍타 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 愁州. Monggo, a Chinese who notified Joseon that Ya-in(野人)s including 阿赤郞耳 and 吾治安 are seeking revenge on Joseon, was under his control. (1462)
Naciga 羅赤介 나치개 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 甫靑浦. The son of Chepsya(Chengepsya)(Cengebsa). The nephew of Saro (1455)
Naciga 羅赤哈 나치합 A Ya-in(野人) who lived in 何伊亂. He wanted to surrender and live under the castle. (1460)
Nacingga 羅稱介 나칭개 A Hulun Udige (1460)
Nacu 羅出 나출 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in SangGaha
