  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Mogiri 目己里 목기리 She is the daughter of Bobo who is a Ya-in from 建州衛. 魚世謙 who served as a 吏曹參判 was ordered to capture her, and she died on the road(1480)
Mohacei 毛下體 모하체 A Kolkan(骨看) who lived in 草串. The son of Gim Mohasa. The grandson of Gim Gorgina. The brother of Mapa (1455)
Mohali 毛下禮 모하례 A Jurchen(女眞) who lived in Yeori. The brother of Bak Danyongga, Durongga, Ayangga (1450)
Mohali 毛下呂 모하려 A commander(指揮) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Belin (1455)
Mohannari 毛漢那里 모한나리 He took care of one part out of 8 part of soldiers of 後金 which Manggultai was in command of(1621)
Mohaya 毛下也 모하야 A battalion commander(千戶) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Namora(羅Mora). He is under the command of commander(指揮) Aro. /// A 千戶 under control of Aro, a 指揮 of Orangkai(兀良哈) in Namora(羅Mora). (1414)
