  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Jabdongga 者邑同介 자읍동개 1. a brigade commander(萬戶) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived at the downside of(行城). The cousin of Mohali. 2. a battalion commander(千戶) of Kolkan(骨看) who lived in 江陽. The father of Ni Darongga, Ni Niungge, Ni Dayangga. The grandfather of Dungburi 3. a grand military protector(大護軍) of Ya-in(野人) who lived in 伐引. He naturalized.**
Jabga 者邑介 자읍개 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 江外 愁州. The brother of Nasongga, Soga. The son of Ebuge. (1455)
Jabpa 者邑波 자읍파 A 萬戶 of 右浦州, a region under control of Ni Manju. (1461)
Jada 者多 자다 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 下訓春
