  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Imana 伊麽乃 이마내 An Odoli(斡朶里) a battalion commander who offered local products. (1431)
Imangra 李忘剌 이망라 Early 16C, a Ya-in(野人) who joined to sack Joseon (1528)
Imasogoro 伊麿疎古老 이마소고로 a commander of Orangkai who asked to let him move to Adaro, Hunchun(訓春) in the early 15C. He lived in 童巾, 愁州, and so on. (1429)
Inda 仁多 인다 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 下訓春
Inda 因大 인대 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in outside of 訓戎江 (1455)
Indagi 因多只 인다지 A brigade vice commander(副萬戶) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Hadongrang (1455)
