  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Isiga 義實哈 의실합 A 指揮 sent by Pilan, a 指揮 of 兀此河衛, to have an audience with the King at 근정전. (1439)
Isiga 亦失哈 역실합 1. A 內官 who was sent to settle the incident in which Yang Modau brought Ya-in(野人)s to Joseon, destroyed houses and murdered people. (1435) 2. 여진(女眞) 1456년 포주(蒲州) 등처 부만호(等處副萬戶)로 승진.(1456) 3. 斡朶里 僉知 (1473)
Isiga 以時哈 이시합 A 中樞 who lived in 厚溫. (1525)
Isina 伊時乃 이시내 1. An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Morian. 2. a 中樞 of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Iungge. The son of Yambu. The brother of Jujangga, Yadanggi, Dondo, Songge.
Isira 伊時羅 이시라 A Ya-in(1509)
Isoga 伊速哈 이속합 A Jurchen(女眞) who lived in 蒲州. (1462)
Isongga 億宋阿 억송아 A commander of the Jurchen(胡人), who resided in 厚春 opposite 慶源, who came to 慶源 and plead starvation and received foodstuffs. (1645-1646)
