  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Ingguldai 龍骨大 용골대 17C, a Qing general. An envoy who asked to contract the military relations but the proposal was declined. When he went back to Qing, he assembled a mighty host of 100,000 mounted troops, and invaded Joseon
Ingui 人鬼 인귀 Early 17C, a Ya-in(野人) who plundered villages in Joseon
Inienro 耳年老 이년로 Early 17C, The head of a Ya-in(野人) who insisted to fight against Joseon (1606)
Iniga 伊尼介 이니개 A Ya-in(野人) (1502)
Inige 伊尼巨 이니거 The daughter of Ni Darhan and the sister of Dajiga, Ni Sardu, Wairang and Wang Cu. (1484)
