Su Qinwang(1609-1648), Haoge, was the eldest son of Hong Taiji. He was granted the title Prince Su and participated in military campaigns against the Mongols, Koreans, and the Ming Dynasty. After Hong Taiji died in 1643, Haoge and his uncle Dorgon competed for succession to the throne. Dorgon later nominated Fulin to be the new emperor; therefore, Fulin ascended to the throne as the Emperor Shunzhi.
