Emperor Gaozong(高宗, 1107~1187) was the 10th emperor of the Song Dynasty. He was the 9th son of Emperor Huizong(徽宗) and a younger brother of Emperor Qinzong(欽宗). After Emperor Qinzong and Emperor Huizong were captured by the Jin, he became the emperor and established the Southern Song dynasty in South China. In his early reign, he appointed military officials such as Li Gang(李綱), Yue Fei(岳飛) and Han Shizhong(韓世忠) who insisted on a military campaign against the Jin. Emperor Gong(恭帝, 1271~1323) was an emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty(南宋). He was the second son of Emperor Duzong(度宗), a younger brother of Emperor Duanzong(端宗), and an elder brother of Emperor Mo(末帝). Reigning for only two years, after the fall of the Southern Song dynasty he surrendered to the Yuan dynasty and was installed as the Duke of Ying State(瀛國公). Emperor Huizong(徽宗, 1082 ~ 1135, r. 1100-1125) was the 8th emperor of the Song Dynasty. His name is Zhao Ji(趙佶). He was the son of Emperor Shenzong(神宗) and succeeded his brother Emperor Zhezong(哲宗). His reign witnessed cultural prosperity. He attempted to restore the Sixteen Prefectures of Yan and Yun(燕雲十六州), but his military policy brought about the invasion of the Jin(金), and he abdicated the throne in favor of his son Emperor Qinzong(欽宗).
