(312-373). A general of the Eastern Jin 東晉 dynasty. He led the campaign that destroyed the Cheng Han 成漢 and annexed its lands to Jin, and had some successes against the northern states of the Former Qin 前秦 and Former Yan 前燕. He deposed Emperor Fei 廢帝 and installed Emperor Jianwen 簡文帝. Huang Chao (黃巢, ?-884) was the leader of the Huang Chao Rebellion(黃巢之亂, 874-884) during the reign of Emperor Xizong(僖宗) of the Tang Dynasty. Hailing from Cao prefecture(曹州), modern-day Shandong province(山東省), he was engaged in salt smuggling with his family, accumulating great wealth. Within a few decades after the Huang Chao Rebellion, the empire broke up and the Confucian Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Period(五代十國時代) began. | 황소(黃巢) |
