  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Dorgi 都乙只 도을지 A 百戶 of Orangkai who dedicated local products. (1456)
Dorginaga 朶兒只那可 타아지나가 A commander-in-chief(都指揮)of 毛憐衛(1465)
Dorgingga 都乙其應哈 도을기응합 Early 15C, an 兀良哈指揮 who presented local products and being bestowed goods by the king. (1423)
Dorgon 九王 구왕 He is the fourteenth son of Nurhaci. (1612-1650)
Dorhan 都乙漢 도을한 A 千戶) of Ya-in(野人) who lived in 愁州.
Dorho 都乙好 도을호 1. →Gim Doron 2. A Jurchen(女眞) who lived in 下訓春.
Dorhon 都乙昏 도을혼 Early 15C, an Orangkai 指揮 who sent a messenger to an official of 咸吉道 to ask of moving to the places such as 阿多老 or 訓春 being afflicted with frequent plundering of Udige. He lived in 童巾 and 愁州. (1429-1432)
Doria 都兒也 도아야 Early 15C, a Hulun Udige(Hulun亐知哈), He was a 指揮僉事 of 兀者衛. He reported wedding ceremonies and funeral rites of Udige and Jurchen[女直]. (1439)
Doridu 都里豆 도리두 A vice director(副司正) of a Jurchen(女眞) who lived in Daon. The son of Doron
Dorigil, Dulgi 都里吉 도리길 Late 15C, a 아매 我每都督 who raided the land of 漢 and sacked. (1491)
