  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Dong Suboda 童修甫答 동수보답 He was one of the Ya-ins who excused food to stay in Eyeyn(閭延)(1425). (1425)
Dong Surangga 童愁郞可 동수랑가 A Ya-in(野人) (1460)
Dong Suroa 佟鎖魯阿 동쇄로아 a 萬戶 of the 建州衛 (1407)
Dong Tabu 童打夫 동타부 Late 16C, the head of the village named 馬老 in 溫火衛. He stayed in the castle of Nurhaci. (1596)
Dong Taci 童塔赤 동탑치 A Ya-in(野人) under the control of 李Manju. He is the father of Goroci, the foster son of Guntu. (1438), A 指揮 from 1439
