  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Dong Yaca 童也且 동야차 An Odoli(斡朶里) who dedicated local products. (1628)
Dong Yaga 童若哈 동약합 Mid 16C, a Ya-in(野人) who lived in 林投. He was persuaded to move to 胡州. He was bestowed goods by the king and moved, but the land was not adequate to farming, so he moved back to 林投. (1542)
Dong Yagaci 童也可赤 동야가치 Mid 15C, an 斡朶里 who presented local products and conveyed what 亐Singge said. (1465-1466)
Dong Yambu 童也音夫 동야음부 A vice rectifier(副司直) of Odoli(斡朶里) who lived in 吾弄草. The father of Aga. (1455)
Dong Yaoda 童也吾大 동야오대 15C, Odoli(斡朶里) a brigade commander-in-chief(都萬戶) who was bestowed goods. He lived in 會寧. (1443-1448)
Dong Yara 童也羅 동야라 A naturalized Ya-in(野人) (1441)
Dong Yasa 童約沙 동약사 A Ya-in who appointed to a brigade vice commander(副萬戶) of around 吾音會 in the middle of the 15C(1456)
Dong Yasa 童若沙 동약사 An Odoli. He is the brother(伯叔) of Naha. It is written that he died in 滿浦 arealong with 6 others (1493). It's possible that he is the same person as Ni Yasa. (1493)
Dong Yasda 童也叱大 동야질대 Mid 15C, a commander
Dong Yasdaga 童也叱多可 동야질다가 An Odoli(斡朶里) (1441)
