  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Borangga 甫郞介 보랑개 1. An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 江外愁州. The son of Sargida(1455). 2. a brigade commander(萬戶) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 下訓春. The father of Dumengge(1455)
Borangga 卜良阿 복량아 the son of 毛隣夷 and Wang Salo, and was informed to invade Joseon. (1496)
Borangga 甫郞可 보랑가 1. An Odoli(斡朶里) who lived in Omhoi. The son of Dong Mangna. The brother of Isiga, Yasa, Masa(1455). 2. An Odoli(斡朶里) who lived in Omhoi. The son of Majumpa. The nephew of MAgumpa. The brother of Bodaci(1455). 3. An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Morian(1455)
Boranggi 甫郞只 보랑지 A 指揮 of Orangkai(兀良哈) who presented local products to the king. (1428)
