  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Bohaha 甫下下 보하하 Late 16C, 溫火衛 Ya-in(野人) who guarded the castle with Dong Gangguri and the soldiers. He had stayed in Nurhaci's castle for seven months. Dong Gangguri's grandson. (1596)
Bohamangna 甫下亡乃 보하망내 15C, a commander of Odoli(斡朶里) who offered local products (1431)
Bolai Pingzhang 孛羅平章 패라평장 Subordinates of Esen. (1542)
Boman 卜萬 복만 1. He is the elder brother of Unpyeng(芸平) who took a bribe(1427). 2. He was stabbed with a knife by Saodi who is an Orangkai lived in Hoiryeng(會寧)東良北(1439) 3. A prosoner who was accused of robbery in Yengheung(永興) and later sentenced to death. (1447) 4. A slave who lived in Geumchen(衿川) of Gyenggi(京畿)(1476)
Bona 甫乃 보내 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 上訓春. The son of Saori. The nephew of aida (1455)
Bongga 奉介 봉개 The son of Sodongga (1602-1603)
Bonggi 逢吉 봉길 A Ya-in 鏡城
