  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Buhai 溥海 부해 a Ya-in(野人) (1480)
Bujai 夫者 부자 He was the chieftain of 如許 who died on the battlefield in 1593. An older cousin brother of Narimbulu. (1596, 1605)
Bujantai 夫者太 부자태 A 장수 of Ula(兀剌部落) who raided Nurhaci's castle but defeated utterly. He later surrendered to Nurhaci. Mantai's younger brother. a son-in-law of Siorgaci.(~1618)
Bujingga 夫之應介 부지응개 A vice director(副司正) of Udige who presented local products to the king. (1459)

Bulacu 弗剌出 불라출 Mid 15C, One of leaders of Hulun. He was murdered by a soldier of Toktobuka khan in 1450 (1451)
Buloe 弗魯額 불로액 Mid 15C, a 指揮 of Jurchen who presented local products. (1459)
Bulohu 弗老忽 불로홀 Mid 15C, an 兀良哈 who was appointed as 萬戶 in 汝包. (1465)
Bungrasi 夫應羅時 부응라시 A Kolkan(骨看) who lived in 草串. The son of Nyu Niu Toisaga. The brother of Budiro (1455)
Bunhua 分和 분화 Late 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who plundered villages in 三水. His father was confined for this matter, he released the men he captured. Gim Jusengge's son.
