  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Narsai 謁沙 알사 A goverment official(刑部官)(1640). He said that He will come to Euiju along with Inggūl(gol)Ingguldai Omoktu if they take an order in the middle of 17C. He is mentioned as Narsai(納爾賽) in the annals of Qing dynasty. (1640)
Nasa 羅舍 나사 An Orangkai who reported that he saw 700 soldiers who was sent by Gim Yeradu, Ninggada and others under the order of Cungsang and wanted to enter to Joseon(1461)
Nasangga 羅雙介 나쌍개 A Ya-in(野人) who lived in Huisan(惠山) who later expelled. (1539)
Nasangga 羅相哈 나상합 A 指揮 of Ya-in(野人)s who lived in 諸羅耳 but naturalized to live in 會寧鎭. (1461)
Nasangji 駱尙志 낙상지 1) A Udige(兀狄哈). (1496) 2) A Ya-in(野人) who asked to meet the king in Seoul. According to a comment, he might be a Jurchen(女眞). (1503)
Nasi 羅時 나시 A Kolkan(骨看) who lived in 何多山. The son of Niu Hircingga. The brother of Hahara the cousin of Niu Borjingga
Nasiga 羅時哈 나시합 A Ya-in(野人) who notified about the invasion of 賊胡. (1554)
Naso 羅所 나소 1. a vice director(副司正) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived at the downside of Haingseongjeo. The son-in-law of Mohali. 2. An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 下訓春
Nasongga 羅松哥 나송가 Ya-in(野人) who was captured to stop Dong Sorotemu from running away. Dong Sorotemu's kin. (1440)
Nasongga 羅松哈 나송합 An elder brother of Gungsida and Saru. He was promoted from 副司直 to 司直. (1461)
