  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Nang Songgoro 浪松古老 낭송고로 Mid 15C,a brigade commander(萬戶) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who offered local products (1457-1460)
Nang Sorgoda 浪所乙古大 낭소을고대 Early 16C, a Ya-in(野人) who murdered Shim Sason(沈思遜). Nang Siabangga's son (1528)
Nang Suburo 浪愁佛老 낭수불로 A military protector(護軍) of Odoli(斡朶里) who lived in 吾弄草. The father of Nang Garsu (1455)
Nang Sumbur 浪愁音佛 낭수음불 Mid 15C, Odoli(斡朶里) a military protector(護軍) who offered local products (1455)
