  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Naige 羅伊巨 나이거 A Jurchen 指揮 who murdered his wife and children after fighting with Gim Parda (1483-1484)
Naige 乃伊巨 내이거 A 都督 of Hulun who planned to invade Joseon. (1439-1442)
Naigo 乃古 내고 He is the son between 張巨羅 and a 胡女. His father 張巨羅 is a Chinese born in 金州衛 and was made a captive of Jurchen(女眞). (1597)
Nainsong 內隱松 내은송 Late 15C, a soldier of Liaodong(遼東) 東寧衛. Boba's father
Naintemu 羅因加茂 나인가무 An assitant of commander(指揮僉事) in Yekmanholsan Post(亦Mahu山衛)(1439)
Nairaho 乃伊羅好 내이라호 Early 15C, a千戶 of Odoli who presented local products and being bestowed goods by the king. He lived in 阿木河. (1428)
Naisadu 乃舍豆 내사두 Early 15C, a battalion commander of Odoli(斡朶里) who offered local products (1429)
Naiyaga 乃也哈 내야합 Mid 15C, a 南訥 兀狄哈 who was bestowed goods by the king after he attended king Sejo on a picnic. (1459)
Naja 羅者 나자 A Ya-in(野人) who lived on the riverside of 撫夷堡 in 咸鏡道. (1508)
