  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Nang Janggaro 浪將家老 낭장가로 Mid 15C, an Orangkai(兀良哈)'s Jijungchuwensa(知中樞院事) who was naturalized after offering local products. a son of Nang Uroga(浪亐老哈) and Dasangsai(大祥祭). Anasi(Ara時)'s husband. a son in law of Gim Parda (1460-1466)
Nang Johu 郞照厚 낭조후 A messenger of Nurhaci. (1606)
Nang Juhu 郞主厚 낭주후 A 將官 of Ula. (1603)
Nang Keribu 郞克里卜 낭극리복 Mid 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who plotted to sack Joseon. a son of Nangboro(郞卜里哈) (1465)
Nang Mingga 浪明家 낭명가 An Orangkai(兀良哈). a relative of Nang Borhan. (1459)
