  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Jujingge 諸之應哈 제지응합 Early 15C, a 千戶 of 兀良哈 who presented local products and being bestowed goods by the king. (1423)
Jujoga 周早哈 주조합 He is one of the 10 men sent by Ni Manju, a 指揮 of 建州衛. He was given clothes, gats, shoes, and other goods. (1435)
Juman 朱萬 주만 A man who was in control of approximately 20 families who used to live in 咸興 but moved to 洪原. (1437)
Jungda 衆多 중다 A battalion commander(千戶) of Odoli(斡朶里). (1431)
