  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Jungge 衆巨 중거 A man of 建州三衛.
Jungnam 仲男 중남 A convoy of 後金. Maybe the same person with 李Jungnam, who was Joseon person.
Jurangga 朱郞介 주랑개 A brigade commander(萬戶) of Kolkan(骨看) who lived in 草串. The father of Niu Sangsangga. The grandfather of Yeojengge.(1455)
Jurigumpa 諸里仇音波 제리구음파 A 千戶 of Odoli who dedicated local products and was given cloths, gats, shoes, and cotton cloths. (1425)
Juroga 主老介 주로개 A Ya-in(野人) lived in 穩城鎭. (1494)
Jurongga 諸弄介 제롱개 A 中樞 of Odoli(斡朶里). The son of Nang Dorangga. (1486)
Jurongge 諸弄於 제롱어 Mid 15C, an Udige(兀狄哈) who entered Joseon and sacked. A younger brother of Judongge. (1467)
Juyangga 朱陽阿 주양아 The grandson of the nomad, Yaotai, who resided in 慶興 per decree. (1477)
Kakduri 康都里 강도리 He was one of the 8 great retainer of 金(1627)
