  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Jinbahui 金把回 김파회 A Chinese who was kidnapped and escaped. He was released at 遼東 under escort. (1464)
Jindaisi 陳代時 진대시 A Ya-in who came drift.(1714)
Jingdino 澄的奴 징적노 15C, a commander(指揮) who is a Hulun lived in 葛林衛 who offered local products by sending Yalingga. (1439)
Jingga 止應哈 지응합 Early 15C, a 千戶 of Udige(兀狄哈) who presented local products and being bestowed goods by the king. (1423)
Jingna 澄乃 징내 Mid 15C, Nimaca Udige(尼麻車兀狄哈) who offered local products. He lived in Guju(具州). He held a brigade commander-in-chief(都萬戶). An older brother of Hoimu (1460-1508)
Jingrao 澄羅吾 징라오 A Ya-in(野人). (1444)
Jingrau 澄羅亐 징라우 Mid 15C, an 兀良哈 who presented local products and being appointed as a rectifier(司直). He lived in 毛憐衛. (1442)
Jingrau 澄羅 징라 An Udige(1460), It may be the same person as Jingrau.(1460)
Jingrau 澄羅右 징라우 Mid 15C, a naturalized 兀狄哈 who robbed horses of 斡朶里 people. (1459-1461)
Jinhonggo 津紅吾 진홍오 A Jurchen(女眞) who lived in Yeori. The son of Gim Moha. The brother of Yenda, Ganaji. (1455)
