Zhang Yi(張倚, ?-?), was an official in the reign of the Emperor Xuanzong(玄宗) of the Tang Dynasty(唐朝). Because Xuanzong trusted him, Miao Jinqing(苗晉卿), a supervisor of civil examinations, helped his son Zhang Shi(張奭), pass the exam with the highest score. When the emperor was informed of this fact, the successful applicants had to retake the exam in the Emperor’s presence. Actually Zhang Shi had little learning, so he could not write anything on the answer paper. The Emperor was furious, demoting the examiners including Miao. Zhang Yi was also demoted. | 장의(張倚) |
