  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Udingge 亐知應介 우지응개 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 下訓春. (1455)
Udu 亏豆 우두 Mid 15C, a military protector(護軍) of Kolkan Udige(Korga 亏狄哈) who lived in 九州. He had an audience with the king. a son of Kerdege. a brother of Gim Todu, 伊里亐溫, and Cangga.

Uduge 亏豆巨 우두거 A Ya-in(野人) who wanted to be naturalized. The wife of Yaotai. (1477)

Ugaci 兀可赤 올가치 Late 16C, a 賊胡 whose name was on a report (1597)
Ugori 兀苦里 올고리 A commander(指揮) in around Mokranha Post(木蘭河等衛)(1434)
Uha 亏下 우하 Early 15C, an 兀良哈 千戶 who presented local products (1431-1442)
Uhene 于虛乃 우허내 Late 15C, Orangkai(兀良哈). Nang Argatu's father (1476)
Uhene 亐許乃 우허내 Early 16C, The head of a Ya-in(野人) who fought against Udige(亐知介) (1540)
