  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Tomho 土音好 토음호 Mid 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who was killed in 鍾城. Pagada's uncle. Goraga's father. (1466)
Tong'azhi 童阿直 동아직 A 千戶 of Odoli(斡朶里) who dedicated local products and was given clothes, cotton cloths, and other goods. (1424)
Tongbuka 童不花 동불화 Early 15C, a Ming general who reported the movements of Chinese men who entered the area of 白頭山. (1417)
Tongto 通吐 통토 Early 15C, a 指揮 of Hulun who was bestowed goods by the king. (1438)
Toni 土尼 토니 A Chinese woman who ran away from 建州衞, and then sent custody in 遼東. Her name was mentioned in 1472's documents. (1472)
Toodai 陶岱 도대 Late 17C, a Qing envoy. A director of the ministry of personnel(吏部侍郞) (1698)
Toon 土穩 토온 The son of Boya. (1410)
Toon 土溫 토온 A commander(指揮) of Jurchen(女眞) who presented local products. (1425)
Topa 吐波 토파 He is the uncle of Pagada. He was murdered in 鍾城. (1466)
