  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Tariga 打里哈 타리합 Mid 15C, a Ya-in(野人) in Dong Sorotemur's family circle. He escaped from Dong Sorotemur, reported 동Dong Sorotemur's recent conditions, and asked to be a king's guard. (1460)
Tariyungga 打隆哈 타륭합 Mid 15C, a 都指揮 of 毛憐衛 who was in charge of returning captured 遼東 people. (1452)
Taroga 塔魯哈 탑로합 Mid 15C, a Ya-in(野人) 持揮 who presented local products (1460)
Tarongga 打弄哈 타롱합 Mid 15C, a man who killed 宋憲 then got killed by 宋憲's son. (1460)
Tarongga 打籠哈 타롱합 Early 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who persistantly plotted to raid 閭延 in spite of the persuasion of 亦迷河衛 都指揮. He lived near 鮮河江. (1439)
Tasabuka 塔思不花 탑사불화 The son of 度祖
Tasatemur 塔思帖木兒 탑사첩목아 the son of 忠宣王
Tasi 塔失 탑실 A Dodok(都督)
