  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Hodoci 好都赤 호도치 Mid 15C, a Hulun Udige(Hulun兀狄哈) who captured Nueci, a man from 遼東. (1470-1471)
Hohori 忽乎里 홀호리 He is the Nurhaci's son in law. (1561-1624)
Hoida 回以歹 회이대 A commander(指揮) of Ya-in(野人) who lived in 朴加別羅. He was naturalized. (1461)
Hoida 好伊大 호이대 Early 15C, a battalion commander(千戶) in Odoli(斡朶里) who offered local products (1428)
Hoiga 會家 회가 An Orangkai(兀良哈)(1468)
Hoimu 回茂 회무 A Nimaca Udige and is the younger brother of Jingna.(1461)
Hoipa 回伊波 회이파 A 司直 of Namnu Udige(南訥兀狄哈) who dedicated local products. (1469)
