  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Gim Gongso 金公踈 김공소 Mid 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who was appointed as a senior military protector(上護軍) (1460)
Gim Gordoga 金古乙道介 김고을도개 A 僉知中樞院事 of Udige(兀狄哈) who was naturalized. a son of Gim Bodongga. the grandson of Gorya Tucinggai. The cousin of Kerdege's wife. (1438-1446)
Gim Gorgina 金古乙其乃 김고을기내 A battalion commander(千戶) of Kolkan(骨看) who lived in 草串. The father of Gim Mohasa) The grandfather of Mohacei, Mapa. (1455)
Gim Gositemur 金高時帖木兒 김고시첩목아 A battalion commander(千戶) of Ya-in(野人) who was naturalized
Gim Guanru 金管婁 김관루 A brigade commander-in-chief(都萬戶) of Orangkai(1454)
