  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Dong Nacingga 童羅稱可 동라칭가 Dong Nacingga and Dong Nacingga are referring to same person. He was in charged by Dong Toro, the chieftain(酋長) of 左衛酋長 as an envoy. (1485-1486)
Dong Namra 童南羅 동남라 A military protector(護軍 of Odoli(斡朶里) who lived in 吾弄草. a son of Ahari

Dong Nangga 童良哈 동량합 Late 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who sent Dandamu back to 會寧 (1488)
Dong Nangjoho 童郞照好 동랑조호 Late 16C, a Ya-in who introduced himself of coming to 滿浦鎭 to trade. A man who worked for Dong Monriu. (1596)
Dong Naojang 童羅吾章 동라오장 A 裨將都督 of 右衛. The son of Naha.(1496-7)
Dong Narangga 童羅郞可 동라랑가 A 都督 of 建州衛 who presented local products to the king. (1456). He lived in 兀剌山城. The son of Dong Bohato. The grandson of Dong Fanca. (1458)
Dong Nari 童羅里 동라리 An Orankai who lived in 梨坡.(1610)
Dong Naringga 童羅麟哥 동라린가 A brigade vice commander(副萬戶) of Ya-in(野人) (1456)
