  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Dong Mangna 童亡乃 동망내 1. a brigade commander-in-chief(都萬戶) of Odoli(斡朶里) who lived in Omhoi. The father of Isiga, Yasa,Masa, Borangga. 2. An Odoli(斡朶里) who lived in 下Borha. The brother of the uncle of Dong Buriga, Yaotai 3. **a Ya-in(野人) who lived in 會寧 Genju Post로 도망간 . the father of Yasai. the father-in-law of Majumpa
Dong Marago 童馬剌古 동마라고 A commander(指揮) of Odoli(斡朶里) who was given the king's gift.(1458)
Dong Marseng 童末生 동말생 He is the brother of a grand military protector(大護軍) Dong Ganggo. His father-in-law is Gimgumpa who is an Orangkai(1444)
Dong Marso 童末所 동말소 Early 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who was naturalized and offered goods. a military protector(護軍). (1423-1435)
