  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Dong Ahada 童阿下大 동아하대 Early 15C, a military protector of Odoli(斡朶里) who had an audience with the king and offered the king a horse. Dong Fanca's son (1437-1442)

Dong Anro 童安老 동안로 Early 15C, a man whose home was appointed to 東北面 端州 by the king. Ni Huayeng's father-in-law. (1413)
Dong Arasu 童阿羅愁 동아라수 Mid 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who was appointed as a brigade vice commander(副萬戶). He lived in Dong Arasu. (1459)
Dong Ari 童阿里 동아리 Early 15C, Odoli(斡朶里) a battalion commander(千戶) who offered local products. Dong Fanca sent him. (1431-1442)
Dong Artemu 童阿乙加茂 동아을가무 He was appointed to a director(司正)(1460)
Dong Ayangga 童阿陽可 동아양가 A vice director(副司正) of Orangkai(兀良哈)
Dong Berge 童伐介 동벌개 An Odoli(斡朶里) (1486)
