  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Dengge 等哈 등합 A 大護軍 of Orangkai(兀良哈) who dedicated local products. (1474)
Derungge 得隆哥 득륭가 A Ya-in(野人) (1433)
Dibangga 知方哈 지방합 A son of Dong Cang. He was given some goods. (1458)

Diga 知家 지가 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 下訓春. (1455)
Disoge 知所巨 지소거 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 尼麻退. The son of Boyangga. The brother of Manggage, Nocengge, Nahacu, Gahaja, Gerge. (1455)
Diura 知亐羅 지우라 A servant of Ya-in(野人) (1410)
Dobdo 都邑道 도읍도 An Orangkai who served as a vice director(副司正)(1454)
