  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Dancuga 丹秋可 단추가 A Ya-in(野人) of 建州衛. The son of Sim Uroga (1483-1484)
Dancung 多隱充 다은충 Mid 15C, a 니마차 尼麻車兀狄哈 who presented local products and being bestowed food. He was appointed 부사정. (1460)
Dandai 丹代 단대 Late 17C, a Qing envoy who came for the condolence call. Naigaksidokhaksa(內閣侍讀學士) (1684)
Danggori 唐古里 당고리 A 次將 of 遼東官(1596)
Danpa 丹八 단팔 A visitor of Idangga) who stole some goods and ran away. Idangga is the son of Ni Manju who was the 都督 of 建州衛. (1449)
Danta 多隱他 다은타 He is one of the Ya-in(野人)s gathered by Aha to murder and rob the people of Joseon. He lived in Monggo. (1471)
Daongge 多吾應巨 다오응거 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 下訓春. (1455)
Daoya 多吾也 다오야 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 下訓春
Dapimodangga 多皮毛堂介 다피모당개 A Ya-in(野人) from 咸吉道. (1441)
