  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Daiping 大平 대평 A Hulun and the younger brother of Gaidarso. He dedicated local products. (1443) 2) A Sano of 李巨勿.
Dairga 代乙介 대을개 A Hulun lived in Byekha post(碧河衛) (1440)
Daisa 多伊舍 다이사 1. A Hulun Udige who served as a military protector(護軍) and appointed to a brigade commander(萬戶) in Haijabi(海子非) etc. later in the middle of the 15C(1464) 2. It's poosible that he is the same person as Hongdaisa
Daisia 大伊舍 대이사 An Orangkai who served as a brigade vice commander(副萬戶) and lived in Sao이(沙吾耳). He prsentend local prdoucts to the king along with Gim Sarongga and others who served as a military protector(護軍). He is the younger brother of Irada in the middle of the 15C(1459,1466). (1459-1466)
Daisingge 大時應巨 대시응거 A Nimaca Udige (1460)
Daisu 大伊愁 대이수 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Saoi. The son of Urangge. The nephew of Yana. The brother of Daiha (1455)
Daisungga 大所乃 대소내 17C, An envoy of Jin.(He is mentioned as 代松阿 in the annals of Qing dynasty). (1633)
Daitasi 大塔失 대탑실 Late 13C, a mongolian general who went on a conquest of Japan
Daitemu 大伊加茂 대이가무 He ian Orangkai who served as a battalion commander(千戶)(1419)
