  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Sim Siriga 沈時里哈 심시리합 Early 15C, 建州衛 指揮 who had been living in 古城, 建州衛 but moved to 多回坪, 婆猪江 when 韃靼軍 raided. (1424)
Sim Songgoro 沈松古老 심송고로 Mid 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who was appointed as a vice director(副司正) (1454)

Sim Tanano 沈吒納奴 심타납노 15C, a commander(指揮) in 暖禿who plotted to sack Joseon. He is under control of Ni Manju. He asked to be naturalized later. Sim Ajingga's father. Sim Sangdongga's grandfather. (1433-1497)
Sim Uhe 沈于許 심우허 A subordinate of 沈台照, a Orangkai(兀良哈). (1426)
Sim Uroga 沈亏老哈 심우로합 Late 15C, a Ya-in of 建州衛 He asked his son, Dancuga to become a king's guard. (1484-1493)
Sim Yerongga 沈汝弄介 심여롱개 →Sim Yerongga
Sim Yerongga 沈汝弄哈 심여롱합 Mid 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who flew into Joseon to get some food to relieve hunger. (1452)
