  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Berice 伐伊處 벌이처 Mid 15C, an 吾郞哈 都指揮使 who presented local products and being bestowed goods by the king. He lived in 阿赤郞耳 (1442)
Berida 伐伊大 벌이대 1. An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in outside of 訓戎江. 2. An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 上訓春. The son of Bak Ga. The brother of Joci, Sige, Bugui, Ari, Age
Berida 伐伊多 벌이다 A military protector(護軍) of Odoli(斡朶里) who lived in Omhoi. The son of MAgumpa. The brother of Modaci, Adangga. The uncle of Mabinja (1455)
