  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Gimgerdoge 金乞都革 김걸도혁 1. Mid 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who presented local products and being appointed as 副萬戶 in 也春. 2. Mid 15C, a 혐진 嫌眞兀狄哈 上護軍 who presented local products
Gimgumpa 金仇音波 김구음파 An Orangkai(吾郞哈). A 副萬戶 of 常Gaha. He is the father-in-law of Dong Marseng, the younger brother of Niu Gingga. (1444-1456)
Gimjinggaa 金眞哥我 김진가아 A brigade commander(萬戶) of Kolkan(骨看) who lived in 草串 and who presented local products to the king. (1455-1459)
