  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Gahaja 可下者 가하자 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 尼麻退. The son of Boyangga. The brother of Manggage, Nocengge, Nahacu, Disoge, Gerge.
Gahaja 加下者 가하자 A 千戶 of Odoli(斡朶里) who presented local products to the king. (1428)
Gahartu 加哈兒禿 가합아독 A commander(指揮) in 毛憐衛.(1441)
Gaho 家好 가호 1. 小GejerUdige(1439,1440) 2. 藩胡(1607)
Gahua 家和 가화 1. An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 下訓春(1455). 2. a military protector(護軍) of a Jurchen(女眞) who lived in Yeori. The son of Gim Irangga. The nephew of Gim Yaha (1455)
Gai 加伊 가이 A commander(指揮) of Ya-in(野人) who lived in Hadongrang
Gaidarso 改達蘇 개달소 Mid 15C, Hulun a commander(指揮) who offered local products by sending his younger brother Daiping (1443)
Gaidu 童介豆 동개두 Dong Fanca asked Dong Hoonci, 童麿豆 and him for a govermental position(1440).
Gaiga 加伊介 가이개 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in outside of 訓戎江. (1455)
Gaiju 加伊主 가이주 Early 15C, an 兀良哈 指揮 who presented local products and being bestowed goods by the king. (1422-1425)
