  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Engumpa 殷仇音波 은구음파 A grand military protector(大護軍) of a Jurchen(女眞) (1459-1460)
Enhosga 殷好叱家 은호질가 A brigade vice commander(副萬戶) of Ya-in(野人) who lived in Hunchun(訓春). (1460-1463)
Ensi 殷實 은실 Late 14C, A person who lived in 鏡城, 東北面. He presented 海東靑 and being bestowed rice
Ensosiga 殷鎖失哈 은쇄실합 A 指揮 who lived in 時錢. He was appointed as a 副萬戶 of the region. (1460)
Ensosingga 殷束時應可 은속시응가 A Jurchen(女眞) who lived in 會伊春. The father of Erso, Sorongga (1455)
Ensuaibu 殷鎖夫 은쇄부 Mid 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who was appointed as a brigade commander(萬戶) for the contributions when subjugating Northern area (1460)
Eradu 於羅豆 어라두 A Ya-in(野人) who lived in 下東良. The son of Nang Borhan. The brother of Nang Garingga, Nang Isengge, Nang Argatu.(1455)
Erangga 於郞可 어랑가 Ya-in(野人) who lived in Masangga下. (1465)
