  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Ecingga 於稱哥 어칭가 An Orangkai(兀良哈). The elder brother of Nyu Niu Sangdongga. (1460)
Ecingge 於稱巨 어칭거 A brigade commander(萬戶) of Odoli(斡朶里) (1464)
Edine 於知乃 어지내 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who had an audience with the king by sending Eri (1441)
Edu 於豆 어두 A director(司正) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 下訓春
Egangga 於加應哥 어가응가 The son of Guntu and the brother of Guringga. He was killed. (1466)
Egangge 於加應巨 어가응거 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Singgi(時應岐伊). The younger brother of Guringa(Guringge/Gurimge). (1465)
