  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Dusa 頭事 두사 A Ya-in(野人) who lived in Gura. He was naturalized. (1461)
Dusangga 豆尙可 두상가 A brigade vice commander(副萬戶) of Ya-in(野人) who lived in Nyepo(廬包). He was naturaized. (1461)
Dusangga 豆常可 두상가 A commander(指揮) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Inguppogasya. (1455)
Dusangga 豆尙介 두상개 A grand military protector(大護軍) of Ya-in(野人) who lived in Hunchun(訓春). He informed the government that other Ya-in(野人)s would committ robbery. (1440)
Dusengge 豆升巨 두승거 A DongjiJungchu(同知中樞) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 時建. The father of Urgim
