  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Dugusin 豆仇信 두구신 A battalion commander(千戶) of Udige and presented local products to the king(1423)
Duheaha 豆許阿下 두허아하 Early 15C, a 千戶 of Odoli who presented local products and being bestowed goods by the king (1429)
Duimangga 豆伊忘阿 두이망아 A commander of the Udige clan(兀良哈) tribe, visited the Joseon court and paid a tribute of local products. (1427)
Duingge 豆伊應巨 두이응거 1. An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 江外愁州. The son-in-law of Ebune. 2. An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Daon. The elder brother of Doha, Daina
Duji 豆之 두지 The Jurchen wife of 金孝鎭, a petty official of 昌城府. 節度使 許琮 sent her to Jurchen.
Dumang 豆末應 두말응 Mid 15C, an 兀良哈 指揮 who presented local products
