Xu Guan 許觀 허관
(쉬관)
His original surname was Huang(黃). Since his father became a member of his wife's family whose surname was Xu(許), he also got his mother's surname. He passed all civil examinations in first place before he eventually got the jinshi degree with the highest exam score. He served as senior compiler(修撰) of the Hanlin Academy(翰林院) and Vice Minister(侍郞) of the Ministry of Rites(禮部) during the Hongwu(洪武) period. During the Jianwen(建文) period, he was a favorite of the emperor and took charge of drafting imperial edicts. During the civil war, while he organized a volunteer army to protect Emperor Jianwen(建文), Zhu Di (the future Yongle(永樂) emperor) occupied Nanjing(南京) and killed Jianwen(建文). When he heard that his family members had committed suicide, he jumped to his death. 허관(許觀)
Xu Guanlan 徐觀瀾 서관란
(쉬관란)
A juren 擧人of 1540. He served as Director 郎中 of the Nanjing Ministry of Revenue 南京戶部 and Supervising Secretary 給事中 of the Office of Scrutiny for Works 工科 during the Wanli era (1573-1620) of the Ming. He was also a renowned caligrapher.
Xu Guo 許國 허국
(쉬궈)
(1527-1596). A native of Shexian 翕縣, Anhui 安徽. After he tried the civil examinations many times, he eventually received the degree of jinshi in 1565 at the age of 39. He served as a bachelor 庶吉士 and then examining editor 檢討 of the Hanlin Academy 翰林院. After the Wanli 萬曆 emperor was enthroned, he became Minister 尙書 of the Ministry of Rites 禮部 and Grand Secretary 大學士 concurrently (1583). He was dismissed in 1591 when he demanded that the emperor install the heir apparent. 국(國), 허(許), 허각로(許閣老), 허국(許國)
Xu Guoqi 芧國器 서국기
(쉬궈치)
One of the mobile corps commanders (遊擊) dispatched to Joseon during the Imjin War(or Hideyoshi's Invasion). 제국기(第國器)
Xu Guowei 許國威 허국위
(쉬궈웨이)
A brigade general 遊擊 who came to Korea in 1598. A native of Fujian 福建. He proposed that the Joseon court construct warships in the Fujian style. He also designed machines to attack castles. 국위(國威), 허국위(許國威), 허국위(許國威), 허유격(許遊擊), 허유격국위(許遊擊國威)
Xu Heng 許衡 허형
(쉬헝)
Xu Heng(許衡, 1209 ~ 1281) was a Confucian scholar of the Song and Yuan Dynasties. He studied the Neo-Confucian theory of Cheng Brothers(二程) and Zhu Xi(朱熹) from Yao Shu(姚樞). In 1254, he was called to serve the Yuan Dynasty and given official positions. After resigning from office due to illness, he dedicated himself to educating students. 위국공(魏國公), 허로재(許魯齋), 허형(許衡), 형(衡), 중평(仲平), 노재(魯齋)
Xu Honggang 許弘剛 허홍강
(쉬홍강)
Assumed to be a Ming official in the Wanli 萬曆 era. He disagreed with dispatching an army to Joseon during the Imjin War (aka Hideyoshi's Invasion) in order to cut military expenses. Instead, he argued for establishing defence lines in Liaodong 遼東. 허홍강(許弘剛), 홍강(弘剛)

Xu Hui 徐惠 서혜
(쉬후이)
Xu Hui(徐惠), was a concubine of Emperor Taizong(太宗) of the Tang Dynasty. Born in Hu Prefecture(湖州), she was reputed for her knowledge of the Confucian classics and remarkable literary talent. 서혜(徐惠), 서현비(徐賢妃)
