As Emperor Shunzong came to throne, he, along with Wang Pi(王伾), Liu Yuxi(劉禹錫), and Liu Zongyuan(柳宗元), led the Yongzhen Reformation(永貞革新). But the eunuchs who opposed to the reform movement pushed Shunzong to abdicate in favor of the Crown Prince Xianzong(憲宗). In the reign of Emperor Renzong(仁宗), he was appointed Attending Censor(侍御史). He was reputed to be a man of intgrity and advised Emperor Renzong not to indulge in women.
